It’s frustrating that we let it get away from us in the second half.â€**** Statistics Washington (1-1) accumulated 243 total yards, 144 passing and 99 rushing. Isaac Lippert and Christian Hardesty both saw time at quarterback. Lippert was 9-13 passing for 122 yards and carried the ball three times for 10 yards. Hardesty was 5-8 passing for 22 yards. “Both of our quarterbacks have done good things at times so far this season, but mistakes at bad times are killing us,â€**** Schneider said. “We have to limit our mistakes at the quarterback position.â€**** Kyle Summers rushed for 68 yards on 18 attempts. Jeremy Monehan carried the ball four times for 20 yards. Seth Bollmann went over 100 yards receiving for the second straight game, finishing with five catches for 109 yards. Austin Finder added five receptions for 26 yards. Caleb Curran had three catches for 14 yards. Summers led the Blue Jays’ defense with 11 solo tackles. DJ Quaethem added seven solo stops. Nathan Kopp collected six solos and one assist. Jacob Maerli and AJ Bartlett both had five solos. Austin Subke had four solos. The Wolves broke it open in the third quarter on a pair of touchdown runs from 12 yards and eight yards by Devin McDaniel and a 21-yard dash by Bryce Becker, increasing their lead to 34-0. In the fourth quarter, Robbie Klos returned a fumble 40 yards for a touchdown and Jared Kine broke free for a 50-yard touchdown run. Warrenton Preview Washington travels to Warrenton for a game Friday at 7 p.m. The Warriors (0-2) have opened the season with road losses to St. Dominic 12-7 and Troy, 41-14. “Warrenton always plays us tough. Two of the last three years, it’s come down to the last play of the game. They view Washington as a big rival and we usually get their best game,â€**** Schneider said. “They’ve struggled in their first two games, but I expect a tough contest. We can’t afford to overlook anyone. We have to prepare, get some things corrected and do the things it takes to get better.â€**** New Field, Reunion A ribbon cutting for the new turf field took place prior to the game. Among those on hand were Washington Superintendent Dr. Lori VanLeer, members of the Washington school board, WHS Principal Dr. Frank Wood and WHS Activities Director Bill Deckelman. “I can’t say enough about our school district and our community for the support behind our great facility,â€**** Schneider said. “It has to be one of the better facilities in the state. It’s beautiful and I’m tickled to be a part of it.â€**** Many members from the 1973 team were on hand, as were head coach Jim Scanlan and assistant coaches John Carter, Ray Eickmeyer and Tim Crone. Before the game, 1973 team members Dennis Brune, Carey Curran and Larry Curran spoke to the current WHS team in the locker room. “It was an honor to have them speak to the team before the game. I couldn’t have written anything better than what they talked about,â€**** Schneider said. “The atmosphere we had for the 1973 team with the tents set up behind the bleachers was phenomenal. It was great to have them back.
