Question 01 (100 % marks)
a) Read through the attached case study “Creating a high performance culture - A Siemens case study”. As you read through the case, create one multiple cause diagram to identify the factors/sources which are creating a high performance culture at Siemens. It is advised that students submit hand drawn diagrams as opposed to computer generated ones. Photocopies of diagrams should not be accepted. Reflect on your diagram in more than 200 words. (15% marks).
b) d on what you learned in T205B concept file 04 section II “Control”, and taking the “creation of a high performance culture” as your goal, draw one closed loop control model to show the inputs’, processes, and control that can lead to achieving that systems goal. Reflect on your diagram in more than 200 words (15% marks).
c) Using an essay format of no more than 2000 words, and d on what you learned in T205B concept file 04 tackle the following:
1- Describe what is meant by organizational goals and the role of goal unity on goal achievement and organizational performance. Assess the existence of goal unity at Siemens, and its impact on performance. Word Count 350 words (10 % marks).
2- Analyze the impact of using performance related pay on organizational effectiveness over the long term and briefly discuss the alternatives to the scientific management approach. Assess which approach is applied by Siemens and analyze its effectiveness using examples from the case. Word Count 650 words (20 % Marks).
3- Assess the role of organizational structure on effectiveness and performance analyzing how adopting the wrong structure can lead to failure. Justify your work d on concepts covered in T205B concept file 04, section III structure, and section IV Development. Word count 300 (15 % Marks)
4- Discuss the role of organizational culture in shaping organizational performance and assess the role of Siemens organizational culture on performance. Word Count 350 Words. (15 % Marks).
5- Discuss the importance of investing in people for organizational effectiveness. Word Count 350 word. (10% marks)
