Using the global statement, explain how a function could be provided with memory!
Explain why this is not necessarily an elegant way to make functions "remember"! What
other alternative is there? Give an example (as code)! [20 marks]
Question 2 [20 marks]
1) What functions does PHP provide to test the data type of a variable? Are there
differences between these functions? Explain your answer! [10 marks]
2) Write a PHP code that contains five different variables. The variables should be
assigned values of different data types. Using the gettype() function print into the
browser the corresponding type of these variables. [10 marks]

1) Using your eLibrary, describe how the algorithm “bubble sort” works. [5 marks]
2) Implement a PHP function that sorts an array of numeric values using the “bubble sort”
algorithm. The array is passed to the function as an input parameter. [15 marks]

1) A defining characteristic of relational datas is that they use primary and foreign
keys to link information. Describe (briefly) how this contributes to connecting relevant
tables. [10 marks]
2) List some of the checkpoints for good data design [10 marks]
